Unclaimed Funds

I have begun asking all of my estate planning clients to check Unclaimed Funds. Often, they are surprised to learn that there is money being held there for them or their family members. Usually, the amount is nominal, but sometimes it is significant. Although the process to collect the unclaimed funds can be a chore, it is far easier to collect while you are alive. Upon your death, probate may be required to collect the funds for the benefit of your heirs.
